We had been meaning to come to this place for a while. M has been here before and recommended it so we decided to go and we brought our cousin J.

J was hungover -as normal on a Sunday- so we felt like we would include her into our world for a day.

We walked in, of course M had been here before so we knew to just sit and not wait to be seated. The waiter was quick to come over and ask us what we were having for drinks. The place itself is very nice, southern looking place. Lovely atmosphere. The menu/choice for food was decent. C got quarter chicken, chips, veg/salad. M got chicken jambalaya (spicy rice with peppers with sour cream sauce). J got chicken burger with chips.

 

 

 

 

The chicken was AMAZING. It was fall off bone chicken and so well cooked! The salad was great to, it wasn't the normal lettuce, tomato, cucumber, etc, etc. It had all of that PLUS jalapenos, sweetcorn, red pepper, onion, red onion... it was glorious! The wedges were great also, they had a spicy batter on them which was much appreciated by me, myself and I. Now... here it comes, the best thing about this place... they have a bottle of hot sauce on the table!!! I was very, very happy/excited/surprised by this, I feel this is great customer service and also shows that you care about your spicy loving customers! Great effort Bar Gumbo, don't really have a bad word to say about you.

 

J (our cousin) got a spicy chicken char-burger and chips. She is not a blogger like us (not cool like us) but she advised that her meal was great, she enjoyed this very much and would definatly go back and get it again! 

      

 

 

 

 

M had the chicken jambalaya, she has advised that she has had this before, she knew how good this was... she knew what to except... she knew what she was in for. She advised that this whole dish is beyond words, there is no words to explain the mixture of tastes in this one dish. She loved it and would most defiantly go back and get this. The rice, is spicy and the correct texture (not rock solid but not soggy) the chicken is cooked to the correct texture also, the sour cream sauce absolutely tops this off as she is not a big spice lover. There is no denying that this is M's favourite food from here. Good effort Bar Gumbo, very good effort.
